so yeah .. I plan to upgrade my comp in a few month (I think around xmas or so) but my current GPU started to die recently -.-
the more I play the more artifacts I get even on lowend games like HL and stuff ... and since my current mainboard has no PCIe slot I just want a somewhat decent agp card for the next few months.
Should be at least as good as my current 6600GT but I don't really care if its an ATI or Nvidia card... shouldn't bee too expensive either.

Any recommendations? I kinda lost track of hardware stuff since I bought my 6600GT xD

CPU failure results in system crashes,
Graphics card failure results in artifacts.

are you sure it's the CPU?

Go for the X1950 Pro(150-ish dollar). Probably the best AGP card there is, and it is relatively cheap too.

Edit: Actually, the X1950XT is better, but I can't find a price on it anywhere. But I am guessing around 200 dollars. Although I have absolutely no idea how much it will cost in Germany.

DJ, IMO if your gonna spend $150+, go for the ATI card in my previous post. it is the best AGP card out and beats the x1900.

Ok yea chunky is Gpu.

Before you spend any money you can try to see if your card works more stable if it is a little underclocked.
I started getting artifacts lately, reducing the gpu/memory pseeds by like 10 mHz fixed it.

Might be worth a try.

Get off my couch
ATI is dirty

I'd say get the 7600. Also means you don't have to **** around with ****ty ATI drivers

well, I spend like 15 minutes cleaning the cpu fan yesterday (+30 additional minutes cleaning all the other fans in my comp) and then I underclocked the pu by 10mhz... seems to work normal again.
Though the cooler wasn't really all that dirty .. not the gpu one at least
(you should've see my chipset cooler ... I was suprised it could still spin o.o)
