Actually there clothes is super strong, on king kia's planet KK gives goku a super strong lightwheit clothes.

because its not as important as the storyline i guess, and they didn't really focus or put too much detailed in to things like that and probably to show rips and things to show more damage(its hard to understand but with the holes and rips in the shirt it works a certain way)

but the costume KK gave Goku was destroyed, we know this from the fact that all the costumes he wears have Master Roshi's symbol on the back, and the one KK gave him had his symbol on the back

hey guys, NEVER EVER look at reality in DBZ!!!!!!!!!!!
ik would make lots of weird questions like: in the android saga..
first bulma wants to ask the dragon where dr. gero's lab is,
then goku says they can't find the dragonball in 3 yrs. (normally it takes them like 10 days)
then later bulma says: i've read about dr.Gero's lab in a scientist magazine... it's located in ..(don't remember)..

Trunks Sword is magical, not unlike excalibur, that's why it doesn't break.

As for the clothes, the ki of the individual does protect them some what. If you notice, there clothes get messed when they are suprised, when there defences are overcome or caught of gaurd.

Their clothing isn't "super strong"....its just like our clothing, or any gi...

They block attacks and ki waves, which would prevent damage on their body..they form a knd of bubble..

If that bubble is "popped", then the attack would get through, causing damage
if its not an extremely strong attack, it'll tear their clothing.

Plus..if their clothes took realistic damage..they'd be fighting in shreds of cloth in no time...
They get slammed through mountains, bashed into the ground....nailed with huge ki waves..
they'd be quite naked in no time...

Be THANKFUL that the animators/Toriyama didn't have their clothing take realistic damage!
