For the tl;dr: This is simply a thank you to the development team from a very old player.

Over a decade ago, sometime around 2002, with the “aid” and “direction” of my older brother (he had already begun his own amusing havoc on another thrilling Half-Life modification, “The Specialist”, under the alias Bruce Lee :) and yes, with that smiley face. I don’t think you could indirectly taunt people more without a smiley face at the end, simply killing people with kindness. I’d eventually be pulled into the ensuing chaos.), with this, I had been introduced to the world of modifications of Half-Life.

I never cared to put much thought into the depth or time it took to create one of these modifications, ill equipped with a naïve and jejune insight of game development that concluded with shallow sophistry as the distorted foundation. I had grasped some concepts that were relevant yet mostly superficial, such as a college student narrowly focused on their grade point average thinking as such, “What do I need to do to get an ‘A’ in this course? How many pages does this paper have to be? What do I have to do satisfy this professor?” and so on rather than directing attention to more realistic, critical questions – those being: to grow as an individual, “What does it mean to be educated? What do I need to do to become educated? What skills and abilities are necessary for me to function successfully at work and in everyday decision-making?”

I was that narrow-minded student in my youth. I only knew of the strange and beautiful world I beheld, yet dangerous too. It had everything you could have expected and more in a DBZ game: Teleporting, signature moves, variety of both good and evil characters, but most of all intense combat. The rush of adrenaline I could feel when finding someone as skillful as you could want and meeting face to face. The memories I can reflect on were only made possible by the developers. I was never really able to directly thank people that had brought out great modifications before and I see the ESF team and this maybe the only opportunity that I got. I see the challenge that presents itself and a decade later it must be tough but you’re in the home stretch. Some days you might feel like you're surrounded by a wall of bricks and every step forward is like falling in a pit. Sometimes all you can do is search within you, find your inner strength – knowing that you did succeed in creating an amazing game and that you really did have an impacted on people to give you that hope, that motivation, that drive to not give into any doubt but to achieve everything you ever wanted.

P.S. As you probably already realized I am NOT a motivational speaker, hah but I would at least like to say thank you.

Again though, in all sincerity, thank you.

I initially thought this was going to be a long "release esf now" thread, but im glad it was someone who enjoyed this game and what it had to offer (still has if you ask me) given that a lot of people tried to do the same thing(dragon ball mods) but quit eventually, whereas these guys kept on going and created the best dragon ball mod of their time.
Although the game isnt what it used to be, if you overlook the small community that presists nowadays it is still an enjoyable game and surely you will find a handsome of good players still kicking it pretty hard with me on the side practicing chainswoops :b

I had to log-in and post specifically for this post. M.Piccolo, that was the most awesome post I've read in YEARS...

I will have to admit that developing this mod has taken drastically longer than ANY of us could have ever imagined, I will have to say that Im glad that there is someone out there who can appreciate the time that goes into creating these things.

The team really cherishes posts like this and it motivates us to keep pushing through. We have never intended for it to take this long to create, but I have to say that even after all these years, it'll be totally worth the wait. Through the development process the team has learned sooo many new things that we want to share with you, to literally give you the best experience you've ever had in any modification or even game for that matter.

Rest assured that we ARE working on this mod daily and I know for a fact that you will all be blown away with the release. We're almost there guys, we wont let you down

Next to Raven
I haven't logged into the forums in a while as well but when Darktooth showed me this, I had to put my penis down, dry my hands, wipe up my anus grease and come reply!

I know its hard for you guys to have faith at times because we will go MIA from the community sometimes for long periods of time. However, we ask that you keep believing in us
because we never once stopped believing in ourselves!!! The mod is still going strong, its just that sometimes real life situations get in the way of going full sprint!!! But it never
stops production, just slows it down to doing the minor things. For example I know Raven and Ryo have been working their asses off both for ESF and in their personal lives with
their school and all that. Yet every day they still put the work into the mod, PLUS they goto German Schools so you KNOW THEIR SCHOOLS DONT PLAY lol. They literally shoot you
if you fail anything. lol and Darktooth went to prison for posing as a priest and touching little boys, hes back now tho and giving us sexy shit all the time. I as well have been in between
graduating and switching jobs but my effects have only gotten sexier by the day. When you see our next trailer that im preparing, you will shoot ***** out your *******, and shit out your
**** hole :DDDD. We love fans just like you who make it feel amazing for us to do what we do with ESF. You keep us reminded that we are doing the right things, and believe ME, ESFs
gameplay and features trumps anything from before, now, and in the future, including Xenoverse :DDDDDD. WE LOVE U.

Also, I started with The Specialist as well, THAT WAS MY SHIT, HRS AND DAYS AND YEARS OF SEMEN INDUCING GAMEPLAY!!!! Miss it mannnnnnnn :'(

I thought it went unnoticed..

I am relieved(and thankful) that the message was read but your replies were what made me happy. I knew a chance existed that a random post on any forums can easily be overlooked and I never talked on the forums when I was younger.(When I could go play ESF? Come on now!)I couldn't really expect anyone to remember a name that generic and I didn't get as long as stay as I had wanted.(Meanwhile ESF, my attention was pulled in another direction with my older brother doing what he normally does - kill way too many people and not die. Those people thought they were frustrated, hah, frustrating is competing with that guy your ENTIRE life at EVERYTHING. Oh, did I say compete? I meant lose, horribly, Yeah, he made sure "winning" was something I only heard of in bedtime stories and fairy tales. Anyway!) This is especially true with only a single post and in truth I started thinking that might be the case but I had to try even if it was never read by anyone. That was the least I could do and to not try at all - inaction is the key to failure. I put much time and effort into my words and thoughts to give maybe a small feeling of what you had given me 10 years ago.

The combat was far more advanced and innovative than I could have wished for. With that token alone, it is deserving of praise. A game - not backed by greedy billionaires or a large team with near limitless resources but a game that did not match but exceeded expectations(Hell, I didn't even think such a game was possible at the time)hit the gaming world and blew every other game away, even those backed by millions of dollars. Although, people may equate money for quality or follow big companies for similar reasons..more money does not(or any money in this case) mean higher quality games.

ESF wasn't created with such success with just sheer dumb luck - it was created with blood, sweat, and tears. ESF was a rarity, a unique game made by a team of individuals dedicated to a dream, an idea,(again, one I would not even fathom to have existed at the time)and afterwards, well the rest I need hardly tell for it happened around us, a reality. One that I appreciate for just being apart of. That is something that is so very rare and fragile as to be invaluable nowadays.

This is the way games should be designed. I wasn't expecting to write all this, I had only meant to say thank you for allowing me to play the game and to show gratitude for a response. I don't expect others to share my sentiments or values. However, to do so much, with so little, with such great success that gave me some fun times and lingering, warming memories. I would think you are now capable of doing anything with nothing. You've already given me more than I could ask for.
