He really wasn't trying to scare anyone, though. The fact of the matter is just about anything can write and create anything on the net. That's both a good thing and a bad thing. Then you have people who'll submit stories to social news networks that either have outlandish titles, incredibly biased sources or are just outright fabrications, but people will treat it as fact. There's really no other way to filter what you read other than by having a bull**** detector in your mind, or doing the fact-checking yourself. That's what his point was about having the MSM as a middle man. Reporters are required to fact check everything they write up, or else they get canned (unless you work for Fox, in which case everything is really just an opinion piece so facts don't matter). Those rules don't apply to the average joe who decides to write up the news.

I agree, he's making a decent point... but keeps going back to how money is lost somehow.

When you're trying to say that people are losing money due to free content, that will have to use advertising to survive.

It's just circular reasoning, used to confuse people and hog the spotlight.

Or he actually believes what he's saying and isn't out to screw with everyone under the Sun. The latter half of the title of his book was something along the lines of "and it's assault on the economy", so it makes sense for him to keep bringing up money.

Yeah, and then people decide which ideas are good and which are bad, and then implement the ones they decided were good. It's just the advancement of a technology.
