I think that the DeathBall and the Spirit Ball should have a charge thats more fluid. When you charge those attacks you can see the "jumpiness" of them when they grow larger. Instead of having 8 frames that have those attacks get bigger in size, you should have 16 or more so the ball of energy...
I think that the new melee system will slow the game too much (it's already too slow, if you ask me).
that's why i'm suggesting this:
Make the melee a hold down button to make the game more fluid, because in the heat of battle you don't have time to quickly change between weapons.
