i cosidered that about the square poly but that will still in the end leave a slight gap between the eye and the pupil which may be noticeable. Still an option no less.
and i tried rotating the ears back before which did no good anyways.i will look at the hand though and see what can be done...
Update! nearly final model.
Ok. Raised the collarbone, enlarged the pupils (3d for now, will try to just make it a flat plane texture), redid the back, resized the waist and belt, edited the face to look more like tien. Crits are definitely welcome...
yeah, half life 2 has a pretty robust facial animation system, the other models thus far have had seperate pupils... not something i'm used to... The pupils should be much bigger than i have them on tien, i'll see if i can just perhaps use a cylinder flattened down and optimized. The white of...
well i want to just texture the pupils in but we need a quick and easy way to animate the eyes..... with a texture you can technically then just animate the UV map i guess... right now its just a low-poly half sphere, i think a texture would look better but might not be able to animate

and, one more go! thank you for the pointers, i have taken them into account on this version. I rounded the face off and made it look a bit less like a skeleton. Hands have been resized and a few other changes were made here and there...
not a problem, i have since modified the ears, i just dont have an updated shot to show at the moment! i'll use a different shot to reference the ears. The head on shot of tien i had made the ears huge. Its hard to tell what reference to use on these characters because they can sometimes change...
thank you for the crits! i fixed alot of what you said. The skintone is a moot point because it is just placeholder, not what a final texture would look like at all.

definitely know what you mean, i'd sooner have two 2000 poly models than 1 model at 4k. There are alot of details in the pants that i can easily remove and still make it look the exact same.
heh ok - its just a plain flat color, not an actual texture for the model. The end poly count, i am shooting for as low as i can go but i have about 4k max to work with. I figure in the end it will work out to around 3k, and i could most likely optimize in alot of places.
