No, you need to be able to play the training level of Half-Life (which requires you download the whole game). It's not that big, though. If you let HL and ESF install overnight it'll be ready before you know it. Also, there are a lot of other quality Half-Life mods available. Outside of ESF...

I think his name was Street Fighter Ryu or something, but we were in battlearena and his whole strategy was to hit me in the air and bounce me off the cieling, so I'd drop and land on him. As soon as I recovered he'd hit me again. This happened for a while.
