when i do melee close up without "swooshing" i dont see the player do anything the opponent just starts zipping away like i hit him!?!?!?!

no there is something that happenes!! u actually kick him!! look at ur character when u melee .. look close! ;/

Yup, Or sometimes you axehandle, or do a backflip/kick... or with gohan and krillin, you headbutt the enemy
