I Is A Total n00b please help

I got the new verson of halflife, installed it, downloaded ESF, and installed it. Started up ESF and it said it needed to find hl.exe so i let it and now whenever i start ESF, it just goes to the HL startup screen.

Any help would be grand...

You need to make a shortcut to hl.exe and put -game esf in the target line ...or just start hl and go to mod listing and press 'activate' on esf

esf dosnt show up un the mod listing either

And this may sound like a stupid question but, what is the command line?
