CS ping is 17 ESF ping is 60

My CS ping is 17!!!
my ping in ESF is 30-60!!!!
and i say WTF?!?#@?#!@?$@!
how can this be?

i have ADSL 1.5 MB
i have nvidia GeForce 4 TI4200 128 MB
i have P4 1700 Mhz

and the most important part that in CS i have 17 ping!!!!!
so y esf have such a large ping?
my friends have 20 ping in cs and in esf

well, u could try to find better hosts, that could do the trick, or just host ur own, for now it's the only thing u can do in my book of helping.

The difference between 17 and 60 is so minimal that your brain probly doesnt notice it XD. I play at 60 and Im one of the best in ESF (please dont flame X_x).

There can be a lot of things that could be causing this. It could be the location/speed of the server you are playing on. It could be the video mode /resolution you are using, although most of the time this should only affect your fps, and not your ping. Try switching to lower resolution with different video modes (OpenGL being the best option). Also, if you wish to minimize choppyness, try reducing the quality of models/gameplay in Configuration.

But it's most probably the location/speed of the server that you are playing on, as that is a major factor in determining your ping, amongst others.

...This is the help section, not the "Inflate Your Ego" section.
You have a very nice connection, so you could host your own server, which would give you the godlike zero ping.
Try to join dedicated servers as much as you can, they will give you better ping than listen servers, which are servers the creator is playing on along with you.
It might also help depending on the time of the day you play, usually playing at off-peak hours, like at night, gives you lower ping.

as for ping issues

ESF is more intensive on CPU than CS

because CS = not so much eye candy
and ESF = Explosion and sprites flying through the air

But I don't know what's with Cell1....normally ESF is more intensive on CPU and he gets lower latency issues than CS....

But if you really want to fix up that ping issues,consider buying yourself a T3 modem

You did not even read my post above....

Ping depends on a lot of factors. Are the two servers you tested your ping on (one for CS and one for ESF), located in the same place? The speed and distance of the server from you makes a big impact on your ping. Your problem is valid only if both servers are at the same place and have the same connection speed. For other solutions, read the posts made by me and others above.

Your pings factors on where you live and where the server is located. If you live in Germany and go to a california server, expect a high ping no matter what.

Another is what connection you have, if you live in the same state as the server, expect to have a 150-200 ping.

Also the FPS, if you type in console "net_graph 1" (without quotes) you will see your FPS, loss, choke, and some other things. Loss and choke can hurt your ping a lot. You should have 0 in that. If that gains, you will lag. FPS may not always lag you, depends on what you are looking at. You can look at one thing, have 60fps, turn 180 degrees and have 30fps.

So the ping depends on you, and where the server is.

heh. i dont see why people complain about a 40 to 60 ping. what is very good. i always have a ping around 20 to 60 ping (depends on server speed) in NL . GERMAN, UK , and BELG servers. cuz i live in netherland, and those country's are close to me.

if you want a PING of 0. Make you'r own serve then!

20 to 50 ping is very good. and you can play with it good to. around 80 to 300. then it starts a little shocky
