Now that you have mentioned steam
I tried installing ecx and bigpack on my half life steam, and gave me the same problem as it did on non steam, except I had problems setting the hlds to run in console mode, anyway just gave me those "bigger then chunk" or something
order of install: Half Life, ESF, ECX RC2, Bigpack 8.4_fixed that one from hl2 files..

and by the way...
did you guys realise that on the addons page of esforces.com, filefactory link of ECX is linking to Bigpack 8.4?

Sorry, I was talking about GATE, but I may have had him confused with someone else who wasn't using Steam.
