Pushing off of a wall or the ground (a charged jump, I guess) should allow you to transition into an instantaneous swoop. This swoop would be faster than a normal swoop initially, and then return to normal swoop speeds after x seconds. It would give an additional incentive to exploiting the terrain to your advantage.

It would be fun to have different types of jump styles, depending on character archetype.
Something like teleport jumps for fast characters, Zeo's suggestion for balanced character and normal jump for slower ones.

We are actually gearing for swoop speeds to be pretty much equal on all characters. There is also an increased swoop speed for turbo and charged turbo. Other than that we are kind of sticking to momentum based movement. Meaning that you have to build up momentum to get to full speed. So someone traveling in direction A will reach full swoop speed forwards direction A faster than someone who is trying to swoop in to direction B.

Ofcourse the differences are barely noticeable, but they are there. This also means that when you make a turn you perform a slight drift as your momentum shifts.

Oh? Nice. As it stands in 1.2.3 chaining swoops together is the fastest way to move without teleporting. As the initiation of the swoop is faster than the speed it settles into. Getting used to the new flow is going to take time. Probably is going to feel allot more natural though ^,,^
