Since installing the beta of Windows Media Player 11 my system has become borked in many aspects. Windows Media Player refuses to open at all (I rebooted after installation), attempting to watch any streaming video through websites gives me the error message 'Could not create DirectShow player' and it also refuses to play .wav's through websites (ytmnd). I tried reinstalling WMP10 but it tells me I can't because it detects a more recent version.

This is driving me mad, anyone know how I can fix it?

This is exactly why I usually don't bother with Beta software.

Have you tried Googling for the solution? o: You're probably not the only one with this problem.

Well here's some advice: DON'T use Microsoft betas, they are very unreliable, and Microsoft means it when they call it a beta.

Yeah, have you tried doing an uninstall, then a system restore?
That's not needed. A system restore automaticly uninstalls / removes the software.

Norton has an excellent one.
