Why the hell the person, that was produced when Goku and Vegeta fused with Potara Earrings, was named Vegetto (or Vegito as some say)?

Gotenks seems right: Goten + Trunks.
Gogeta (even though it's non-canon): Goku + Vegeta.
Vegetto: WTF?

Vegetto = Vegeta + Kakarotto

Only thing I can think of. They used the japanese name of goku.

What Sky said, cuz vegeta would never call Goku, Goku. Even if he was half Goku, the Fangeta part would be far too stubborn.

I'm surprised that they stuck with Vegetto instead of Vegett.. or something along those lines since Vegeta always called him Kakarott in the Englisn dub.

Gogeta and Gotenks are names coming as results from the Fusion Dance fusion, not from the Potora fusion. And for some odd reason, both Goten and Trunks', and Goku and Vegetas' Fusion Dance Fusion use the names that start with "G", taking the first letter from Goten and Goku, not that it even makes much of a significance.

Kakarotto is not the Japanese name for Goku, it's his original Saiyan name.

No, madman. No.

@Akation: That's because Gotenks resembles Goten, Gogeta resembles Goku, and Vegetto resembles Vegeta.. from what I've noticed at least

His Saiyan name is Kakarott in the English dub and Kakarotto in the Japanese dub.

In the official viz translated manga his name is Vegerot. They also joke around on the tower about what Gotenks name will be when he fuses and Trunten was bought up as a suggestion- Piccolo also calls out to him with that name when he runs off to fight fatbuu.

I thought it's Kakarot (or at least that's how Vegeta calls Goku in the dub (EDIT: damn, Dam already said that)), not Kakarotto. Anyway this seems to be the only explaination that makes sense.

Kakarotto = original

Kakarot = dub

And then we ask ourselves why names sound so ****ty in the dubs ^^

Meaning its either a change of name or pronounciation problems as seen here.

What about Vegeta + Carrot = Vegarrot?

I think Kakarotto is the answer in this thread as we stated.

Kakarotto = from the word carot. Or rather the food that inspired Gokus Saiyan name.
