Nah, Cell was holding back seriously. He was laughing while pumping Ki into his beam. Gohan on the other hand had already been warned by Goku to give it everything he had. But continuaslly matched up. At the end Vegeta put Cell unbalanced and Gohan's Ps over took Cells. Then all Gohan had to do was pump the last bit of Ki into it...and boom Cell was gone.

But that's not the topic guys. You guys are taking about the Power Struggle about Gohan and Cell taking the fact that Gohan won, and using that to promote the answer. No. Think of other ways

The anime is based off the manga, manga came first, written and illustrated by the creator of dbz. I think he knows what he's talkin bout, since well, it's his creation.

it doesn't have to be mentioned. You know how cell WAS holding back? he felt a blast from BASE Vegeta. The smiling, everything is proof to how he was holding back.

And, it's only logical cell got stronger, Cell was stronger than SSJ1 Gohan.
BTW, if Gohan really Was stronger than cell, He could of reflected that blast going to Vegeta. But instead he took it on.

I myself Like to know what happens by the way the story goes, by what the characters say, the actions used. If I was taking your side in the argument I'd be arguing this, cell was just about to make his final push, vegeta distracted him then gohan let his power "explode" so he had much less resistance from Cell because of the distraction. I trust in the way the story went, with what Goku was saying all through the struggle (you can do it, you kno ur more powerful etc...) It just makes sense to me that Gohan, even in his weakened state was more powerful.

How i know that? How he was taunting Gohan throughout the whole thing, and how he was affected by Vegeta's blast. BTW, don't read VIZ manga, read Kanzebans translations. VIZ tends to screw up alot of crap around.

I've read both fan trans and Viz, Im not exactly fuzzy on the matter, I've also watched 2 different dubs of the anime (one on TV here is canadian, but I downloaded it once too). The way Gohan acted when cell got there was he was excited that he could avenge his father's death, he was smiling and looking forward to the fight, then vegeta went on his rampage gohan jumped in to save him got his arm broken and then proceeded to defeat cell.

The way characters act is nothing to judge by in dbz, every character except Goku/Gohan always acts like they're the dogs bollocks, then they get defeated.

Fooking Magna and it's bull**** There are some questions that are un-answered in the magna that have been solved in the series.

Anyways, Cell was holding back a lot. Sure Cell might've had enough Ki to destory the whole 'whatever' But ever heard of exageration? Lieing ?? Sarcasm?? Those are things a book can't answer unless you put.

People at GameFAQ and DaizenshuuEX think Cell was holding back.

Hell even people at the funimation forums.

Reasons why cell is stronger

-Look at that huge smirk on his face, and taunting
-Gohan could only kill him once Cell was distracted
-Gohan took a blast that broke his arm that was SUPPOSED to kill BASE Vegeta

- Goku was sure of Gohans victory

What is evident is what's said in the manga and the show, what you are assuming are assumptions, which aren't evident.

Based on that, it seems like Cell never actually got around to releasing all of his power to kill Gohan. He said "Farewell", meaning he was about to try to end it, but before he could start pumping energy, he got hit by a ki blast thrown by Vegeta. It seems insignificant, but that split-second that threw Cell off and kept him from trying to finish off Gohan was definately a factor in why Gohan won. Gohan's energy combined with the fact that Cell had his opportunity to pump more ki into his beam, combined yet again with the surprise factor involved in Gohan overpowering Cell definately worked in the good guys' favor. I think this match was supposed to be considered a close one to demonstrate how powerful Cell actually was.

It doesn't matter though since Gohan would have won anyway. You know, cause he was kinda supposed to completely surpass Goku, and him losing means everyone dies.
