Well I have no idea what project D is, I think you might have your wires crossed on that. However, Initial D is an anime as well as a game. Currently, there are two series' (Seasons) of Initial D: Initial D: First Stage, and Initial D: Second Stage. There is also a movie which is commonly reffered to as Third Stage. Currently, there are two OVAs: Extra Stage, also titled Impact Blue because it's all about Mako and Sayuki and their Blue Sil eighty. The other OVA is Battle Stage which is kinda like Initial D Porn. It's all the races from the first 3 stages done with new computer graphics. As for games, there is currently Initial D: Arcade Stage, and its sequel, arcade stage 2. The second is only out in japan right now, but I have seen 1 Arcade Stage here in Minneapolis so I know it's out in the US.

As for the future of Initial D, I've heard rumors about more coming (and they even said see you next time at the end of battle stage). Haven't heard if it's a series, movie or OVA, if indeed it exists. Hopefully it's going to be about Ryosuke's All gunma team.

Apparantly there is already a full third series in the works. My m8 works for an anime website and the guy that owns it always seems to get a lot of inside news. He told me that a few months back. Ive got both series 1 and 2 and the extra stage on DVD. I got all three together in a box set. The bad thing is its only got chinese subtitles, so i had to download episodes off the internet with english subtitles. I got my DVD from a dodgy website, but im sure if you got it from something more official, like amazon or ebay, then it would have english subs.

That's a pretty good website for anime on DVD that hasn't made a US release yet. It's usually good quality even though the subs are usually stolen from fansubs. But the video is much better quality than any fansub.

Also, for those who don't know, Tokyo pop is finally getting around to doing the US domestic release of Initial D.

Keep in mind that Initial D is a bit older than you might think :p That's the reason the graphics in the show are a bit dated. Also, from what I understand, the show started out with something of a lower budget and they didn't put as much effort into graphics and animation. If you watch all 3 stages, the graphics and art improve a lot as it progresses.

And yep, the Trueno Sprinter AE86. Cool car even if it's not my favorite :p I'm a big fan of the Civic EG6, Skyline GTR R32, and The Lancer Evolutions :p Speaking of which, for thoser of you who'cve seen Initial D, which are your favorite cars?

My fav cars are the Mazda RX-7s driven by the takahashi brothers, but buntas trueno is quality aswell. OMG, all the music for initial D the best aswell. My fav song is running in the 90's, followed by night of fire, around the world and get me power. Whats your favourite track from the series?

Dude, the Skyline has its own creepy ass theme song ;P

Seriously though :p To name a few of my favorite tracks in no particular order: Civic Race, Around the world, rage your dream, kimi ga iru (second stage ending theme). There's a lot more but I forget the names.

On a side note, I'm gonna go give Arcade Stage a try on friday :D

Ug, had to dig for this to fill out the response.

Ok, played Arcade Stage which apparently is called Project D in the USA, so I guess that explains that. On the whole I was really impressed. Though I only played it in automatic transmission mode, the physics seemed good, not to terribly hard to control either. Really it was a lot like a weater down version of the show (watered down controls that is, otherwise we'd all crash :p ). Only played as the Trueno Sprinter AE86 and the Skyline GTR R32 though. But the cool thing is not only does it have all the cars from every stage (it has the pic of the character by the car when you select it) but it also has other similar models that are newer. IE more evos, and I think the R33 or something was there too.

The maps that I played were Myogi (Easy level), Akina (Hard level), and Happagohara (Expert).

Myogi was too easy and uninteresting with very wide turns, not really much fun. Akina had a lot of good turns but I tended to hit the wall a lot. I accidentaly selected Happagohara ;P That map is brutal. Suffice it to say I never got near the bridges :p And yes, for those who have seen Initial D, it has those insane 90 degree turns followed by the straight away on the downhill.

On the whole, the maps looked VERY close to what I remember them looking like. I really loved playing the game and god I hope it makes a debut on the PS2 in the US. Once I get money, I'm so getting a PS2 (mostly for games like FF9 and 10, Xenogears and Xeno saga, and other RPGs). I want this game soooooo badly.
