Well first off, the map has to have beans on it. Then, when you see a little bag, fly/walk over it and you'll pick them up. Then, scroll through your weapons (i use the scroll button on my mouse), its the thing after your last attack but before your melee attack. Looks like a bag, select it and press fire and you'll eat a bean.

It restores your health.
On some maps, you start off with beans. When you die, you usually lose them and have to find some again.
They come in quite handy.
