There is no real "limit", but for an ESF map to run well, probably under 1200 (preferably under 1000 if possible but sometimes it isn't). The r_speeds on esf_cell_day/night average at about 800-900.

For it to run on a wide platform of computers, I'd say don't exceed 800wpoly, or 1000epoly.

1000 EPoly? That is extremely low. About 5000 is the limit there, bud.

how about under 800 as it will run on most computers, esf is to laggy, XP
or 1000 is ok for "most" computers

just do 1000 lol
you can still make really great maps with that

it is not about the power of your pc, it's about running the map on the internet!!
It doesnt matter what kind of uber-computer youve got, if you play a map with r_speeds of 3000w_polys on the inet!

Is that with four players (besides you) in your game?

I read somewhere that for online play r_speeds at any given time should stay below 400 - 500. and not to exceed 800. Also these specs were given at the time when most people had a standard comp 500Mhz/128RAM/16-32MB vid card and dial up connections. with gameing now you can go around 1000 R_speeds on average around a map and it will still run fine and be playable.
My personal max R_speeds. My personal goal is to try to keep it under 1200. That can be very hard to do with an ESF map depending on what you are trying to accomplish.
