What has the Internet Taught You?

The Internet has subcultures such as forums, online gaming, and other exclusive internet activities. Because the internet has spawned a mini culture of its own and after experiencing so much of it via forums/online games, I think it's kind of affected my life.

For one, I type MUCH better and coherently. i used 2 tlk like dis @ 1 point. I specifically said "I like to type the way I talk". But now, even on instant messages and most of text messages, I type my words out because forums and the users frowned upon it, while most of my friends who DON'T use forums still type like that on messengers/facebook.

I also admit that the idea, and lack of, religion, specifically on these forums, have gave me perspective on that subject. I have identified better with myself in terms of what I believe in.

I've noticed humor that can really only be funny through text. Not really ***** humor, but sarcastic/dry forms of typing. Watching certain debates/arguments on this forum has made me keen on that subject as well.

Oh, and without the internet, I may have never gotten into Flash/animation, and therefore would not know what to do for college.

example: I want to get a pet dog, so i look on the internet on what i should do and how to help take care of it.

Like Optikz, the internet has given me access to a ridiculous amount of information. I still prefer books over text on a screen, but the net is nice to have when the libraries are closed, or I'm just too lazy to hike there.

I can do without everything else, though.

The Internet has taught me that for 10 quid a month, one can obtain free music, free films, and free games. The internet has also taught me how to act tough from behind the safety of my monitor, and that parents are over protective. I mean, how was i to know she was only 13

It taught me english.
I was pretty bad in english when I was still in school and now after years of intarweb madness I can read/write it pretty well and speak it almost fluently

Same here really, my typing speed/efficiency is my most employable factor and I wouldn't have that if it weren't for the ESF forums.. <3
The internet has.. Well, I spent so much time on the computer in my childhood and still today, that the internet has taught me everything I know. From simple math to philosophical value of life, I learned much more from the internet than I ever will first hand.

Me pretty much same as Ready. English is the easiest subject to me now.
It's a source of information and it introduced me to different countries and cultures. It also helped me to improve in martial arts as i had a chance to read the works of masters. It has done other countless things i could name on and on.

Oh I didn't even consider the more serious side of the internet.

I've learn SO many new things through Wikipedia. I've spent almost an hour just reading stuff, clicking on one of the blue links, and learning about another thing. Mostly science and history.

I don't give damn if anyone can edit it, Wikipedia is awesome :smile:.

The internet taught me that porn doesn't have to cost you money.

But seriously, the internet taught me countless things, many being valuable. I think it'd be hard to learn or know about many things these days without it. When it comes to news, it can be raw and unbiased (unlike pretty much all news stations). The internet is the information super highway, it can teach everything.

On the odd side of things, I find it sad that I've retained more useful information from the internet than I have from High School overall. Now I can't speak for everyone on that, but I'm sure a few would say the same.

there are more cynical people/person's out there than myself.

lawyers suck.

ive discovered the "newb" and the best way in which to leech entertainment from them.

video games get magically easier when you spend 2 minutes on google.

britney spears (yes, i have learned britney spears. she's a subject of her own.).

chuck norris defies all laws of physics.

well, thats as much as i can remember for now.

If it wasnt for the internet... i wouldn't have learned JACK **** about ATV's, computers, military affairs, politics, ect...

It's educated me a **** ton.

If not for the Internet, I wouldn't have found out about the tools or processes involved in 3D Animation and wouldn't likely be on that career path now. I never would have met some of my best friends, or have found out about some of the coolest things around, and likely would be oblivious to thousands of subjects, as well as current events.
