What will the FX script will do? People talk about it all the time and I don't understand what a combination of words in a text file can do.

Can someone help in that?

Well it's not just a combination of words in a text file you know!
I don't know exactly but it's a sort of effects creator! :)

*sigh* It's a tremendous effort to explain in full detail. But basically, the mod programmers (in this case, Pcjoe) write code that tells the mod to read other code from a text file. That's essentially what a script is. It's code that's read from other code. Since you can't edit the ESF source code, scripts are a nice way to achieve certain effects as if you could.

I hope I explained that well, I think I did.

The motion-blur was also part of the fx system.

Everything in the video was, that was the entire point of the video.

@ deco - Yes, it will likely be used for the transformations.

Wait but pretty useless for most of us creating videos like that, so what it will give to gameplay (Visual stuff in detail would be awesome if you can detail it)

FX script

FX = effects :p

If its going to be dynamic or extensive-coding oriented... beats me.

The point of the FX system is to give us the freedom to screw around with the effects and alter them as we see fit. You won't see what I created, and I won't see what you created unless there's some kind of file system that we can swap, or unless we told each other exactly what we did.

My point was it'll work in much the same way models do. I only see the models that I downloaded, not the ones that you did. Yes, I can obviously download the same models as you, but that's what it would take to view them.

Alright but isn't that means you need to be an advanced coder or something?

No, and that's the great thing about the fx system. All you need to know how to do is point and click. It's built with morons like us in mind.

Im not sure about the moron-proof thing.

It will have an interface so yes itll mostly be click and do. But youll still need to know some stuff to set up everything ^^

And this script will allow you to add your own effects to transformations or other parts of the game. Making movies with it is a bonus.

You could add a blur effect to the getting punched animation if you wanted to.

I don't know why PC Joe would bother with such a task.
Yes, it is a feature that will provide eyecandy for all those visually picky...
but I bet PC Joe would have an easier time writing a ragdoll system than creating effects out of pure text.

I don't know much about coding but it sounds like an incredible amount of work to me.

Its not from pure text. Thats just how the commands are accepted now. The interface will lateron provide the commands. Besides everything in coding is nade out of words. And Ragdoll would be even worse since the code would have to check for the actuall map terrain building hitboxes round it just for the ragdoll system. after that would be done the calculations would have to be made for the bouncing and so on. Not to mention the actuall model movement.
