...Well, it's simple really.

File formats.

My story is a shining example of this frustrating obstruction to making models: as a patron of HL1, I began in Milkshape. Then when this community started getting into 3ds Max, I went with you guys. Then when I wanted to model for HL2, I switched to XSI. Now I have models in three different (well FOUR counting the metasequoia files I got out of FFXI using their model viewer) file formats, and none of them are in HL2 SMD form.

GAAAAAAAAARRRRRRR!!!! THE UTTER FRUSTRATION.

So as a challenge, nay, a prospective conquest, to this community (and other mod communities... posting as we speak...) I dare someone to find a way to get .ms3d, .gmax, .max, and .mqo into the HL2 SMD format. The answer can be simple, it can be complex. I shouldn't have to buy anything I don't already own. (and I already own ms3d, gmax, 3ds max, and softimage xsi) Fellow modelers out there should understand my frustration.

Who wants a piece o' this?

By the way, it's good to be back.
