So I thought that some contest about web design would be nice.

Only screenshot for layout is enough so you dont have to code it or anything.
And the theme would of course ESF.

There would be no prize except honour and fame. ^^

So what do you say? o_o

EDIT: And sites would be for some ESF clan. :>

Real websites aren't designed in graphics programs.

Well I know that but most designers use programs like photoshop to planning.
And who said it have to be from a graphic program? Of course you can code it but I just made it easier. :tired:

You can also do it with using only CSS, as you wish.

I think Kurt might have missed the underlying nature he was trying to emphasize through a confusion of un-needed terminology. Real websites are designed in graphic programs, they aren't developed in them, however.

The process of designing a website layout and coding/developing that layout using semantic markup and practical methods like CSS-based validated content are two different principles.

Kurt might have been refering the practice that some web developers (and even some colleges and firms) still use today that adopt the use of illogical table based layouts that are simply slices from images; a leftover bad habit that was a solution back in 1998 during the browser wars and so on that some have refused to see the flaw in as of modern times.

that sucks... im new to websites and somebody asked me to do one for money, and what you described is basically what i did >_< made slices and tables.. it was so awkward. Is this a bad technique then?

Too bad no web browsers nowadays support CSS2 fully (or even CSS1 fully, as is IE 6/7's case) except for Opera, which nobody uses.

XHTML is ftw though

I can't show any of my latest projects, as they're NDA'd (non-disclosure agreement), some of you who have been around here have seen some of my older stuff though

I would enter but... My computer is ****ed to the up. My master HD somehow got windows deleted from it so i made my slave drive the master untill i have time to refrag the other one and re-install windows and everything. Plus i don't have internet at home anymore so... yeah.
But you can make a website layout in a graphics program. Just not a website yet more of a picture. I dont know how to make a website necessarily but i could make graphics and if i entered i'd research up on it but... meh.
Good luck to all who enter. And good idea kaiz0ku. (thinks about spriting contests o_o)
