Hi all :D

I got this idea:
What if beams divided water when the beam flew over / past it ? You know, like when they(in the DBZ movies) fly over water surfaces and the water spread bellow them :p
And when the beam is under water, could it be possible to chance the reflections ??

I don't know if this suggestion has already been talked about, but I would think it would be an cool effect :D

Keep up the good work ^_^

Best Regards

That would be, a large FPS eater.

And it isnt really needed. Sure it looks nice, but not too much.

You do know this is still Half Life right.

Heck even Quake 3 cant handle water spliting without some major recoding of the engine itself.

Youd have to change how the engine defines the water.

Put simply. Not possible.

Ont even the official Budokai games support that and you want us to put it in on an egnine thats 10 years behind the budokai engines?

I'm a 100% sure that he meant a texture or any other 2d water behind you. Just some effects

Hey, would just like to let you know that we're developing ESF on a 10 year old engine.

I would be very glad with a throwing to water "splash" like it was implemented on sven co-op 4.0 BETA's water walking and water shooting. As for spliting water forget it man...

There's no need for something extravagant....
Something "cheap" would work as well if it's not such a bother. :))

Well to put it straight i actually meant splash, but i couldn't remember the word xD
I was meant to be some like when you recharge over water :D

Just as Takumi_lfs said ^_^

And it was also my thought, that maybe, to prevent FPS lag, it could be switch-able? So that if it took to much then you simply just turned it off..^_^

Best Regards

Nah, that wont be a drastic fps eater, and since everyone (almost) has up-to-date computers it wont suffer.

Actually, I also like the idea. EVM or ECX had this too if I remember correctly.

It's been a while since I've played ESF, but I seem to remember we've got something close enough to this already if you've got the dust trails enabled. Beams cause blue mist when above the water, and the same thing happens if you charge up over water. I think. It's been a while since I've had a working install on my computer so I could just be making this up o_o

Nah, nothing like that is currently in the game. Dust trails were taken out in 1.2 due to them killing fps.

It has been said that using the new FX system wont eat FPS with dust-trail fx. So maybe there is a chance for such an effect and look good also.
