as for the why, it means he has a dhcp router setup, otherwise his IP would be the same as his external adress. Find out what it is, connect to it (most likely 192.168.1.1 or 2.) and see if you can change beneficial value's

Please do not turn off your firewall!!! the reason is if you turn off your firewall your computer will be unprotected and you will get hacked right away, and that will be a problem.

Try your best to protect your computer from those misbehaving hackers or you will make a biggest mistake of your life.

Yea thats bull****.

As long as you dont surf porn sites, download cracks, click weird (and mostly obvious) facebook links or open strange mails from people you dont know, you wont have any problems. Anyone capable of hacking directly into your system without you first opening a trojan can get round a firewall easily.

That aside any hacker that has the ability to directly hack a computer on the internet without trojans has better stuff to do than play pranks on random people. Hackers are usually egomaniacs, and they wouldnt get an ego boost unless they do something that makes the news.

On the other hand if you open a trojan or something like that, then its your own fault to begin with.

And for your info. My firewall has been dissabled on the computer since i installed windows (every time i installed windows) and my router firewall was set to DMZ mode on my local IP since the beginning (cause i cant be arsed with ports every time the router decides to change my IP) and i have not had a single virus or "hacking" problem for the past 10 years.

The only time i had a "hacker" problem was when someone got the database of a certain forum and thus stole all usernames and passwords of every member on that forum.

Good that I don't do a lot of those stuff you mentioned Grega... :)

@Reptile, I'll see what I can do.

Router is:

Product Name: SpeedTouch 5x6
Serial Number: CP0536AHC3D
Software Release: 6.1.0.5

Reptile I don't know how to set it up maybe we can talk trough an IM or something?
