What are the specifications of your friend's computer?
Does this occur when playing other video games or just Warcraft III?
Are the video card drivers up-to-date?
Has your friend installed the latest patches for Warcraft III?

I have seen that couple of times.
Except all those times I had an energy surge and my computer went knocked down like Lyoto Machida in Machida VS Shogun 2 (UFC)
Thus maybe he has been playing dota too long and he have a nice computer that agree with 15 minutes pause after every "while" playing.

(Call me a cutthroat sarcastic mother fu....)

^ What Denz said. If the computer shut downs just like that it's most likely an overheating issue. The computer shuts down to protect itself. Either the processor or the video card (if he has any) is too warm. Ask him to install Speedfan (http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php) so he can keep an eye on the temperatures. It's quite a nifty software.

It also has the ability to take over the fan speed so you can set it to 100% but not recommended to play with the software if you have no idea what you are doing.

Thanks, Sky.
I'll ask of him to make a registration so that he can answer himself :)

Ah Yea. It used to happen to mine. Tell him to try cleaning it out. Cause he could have a clog in the fan and system. Like a gigantic ball of dust. I usually clean out my computer bi-weekly just to keep it healthy.

Yeah I remember when I changed my MB, I missplaced the cooler because of one cooler pinlock, then everytime he was overheating (100°C when safe CPU heating capability was 65°C)
---Restart--- here we go, overheat. ---Restart--- Here we go, overheat.
Lucky me its Fall time here, close to Winter... Normal temperatures don't go over 25°C (summer was likely 40), right now its 14°C (says 1ClickWeather)

Well basically, he never cleaned it since it was in guarantee.
I'll tell him.. He seems to not have time to register, ***ot.
