Another thing WAR does a millions times better is makes it's classes interesting and fun. There is a grand total of ONE class i could stand playing in WoW and that was frost specced mages, and even then only in pvp. In WAR Marauders, squig herder, and shamans are VERY fun even at low levels, and i'm interested in most of the other classes as well. The classes are just set up to be interesting, active, and ahve a good array of abilities from low levels.

The way the WAR world is set up is also muhc better for having fun. The quests are plentiful, fast paced and have interesting tests. They also put you in good places to discover PQ's(another awesome thing), and RVR. I can't comment on RVR in WAR vs WoWW at high levels. All i can say is that in WoW it's practically non existant and low levels in WAR RVR is awesome and pretty much all I do.

Laslty using the same engine doens't mean they have to have even similar gameplay, heck THESE 2 games use the same engine Grand Theft Auto IV, and Rockstar Games Presents Table Tennis, or these 2 Dark Age of Camelot and The Elder Scrolls IV.

I believe you're horrendously mistaken.

You can't gain levels by pvping. You gain honor, but not levels, lest you do a one-time pvp quest.
Blizzard is considering gaining exp from pvp, however I don't think it's going to be any significant value. Plus PvP in wow is based around the level cap anyways, so it'll be insignificant if they do impliment it.

tanks in pvp? seriously?

there's 3 roles in pvp in wow, dps(glass cannons) utility (cc, dispels, useful buffs/debuffs etc) and healers. You cannot be effective in all three area's with any class. In pve you have the 4th role, tanks, i dont care what class the tank is, if he's pvping he's just an annoyance that any good player will ignore, when they see he's got 16k health they'll just select the clothie and kill him instead.

Saying there aren't roles in WoW... my god, what wow did you play?

In the end its all just taste, I just don't see any reason to pick this up over Wotlk atm.
I have bad news for you there, but tanks in World of Warcraft battlegrounds are an essential part of Warsong gulch, and to a lesser extent Eye of the Storm.

Whenever my guild does premades we always, always, always bring 2 tanks with us. That's right, 2 protection warriors, or paladins, or druids depending on what we have available. In warsong gulch we need someone to capture the flag, who better than the class that can mitigate the most damage? Protection warriors and paladins.

Dreamstate Druids my friend, dreamstate Druids..*
That generalization is two years old. (The glass cannons and utility.)

Anyways, I haven't played WAR but I've seen some videos of it.
If you pay attention to the new expansion coming out for WoW, you can see they're almost dropping the 'cartoon' art style and are now locked into these pseudo-practical looking armour sets.

Edit-
AOWMDEOI@HNKNEFAWDJAWNDAWJUDNAUN@$UNAAWD
Did I just pick up "My friends" from McCain?! AGH!!!

Also, I played LOTRO and it most definitely does not use the same engine as either WAR or WoW.
WoW has been using the same engine as Warcraft 3 and I doubt they would allow use of it outside of Blizzard Entertainments' projects.

So my friend let me borrow his account for warhammer today, so I can actually give my two cents.

First impression: It is very very similar to WoW. I mean, it was to the point where I actually thought I was playing WoW with different graphics. I wanted to auto run and muscle memory kicked in and i hit the same button I would to do it in wow, and lo and behold, I start running. I started a warrior priest (suprise suprise) on some RvR server.

I loved how one of my first quest dumps me into a scenario. At first I thought I was level 1, which i was like "well ****". But it increased my level to 8, which was nice.

Although there are so many similarities, there are also some major differences that favor war, while some don't.

So far there are a few things WoW could learn from War, and vise versa. I will admit, WAR is very very fun. It's definitely worth the money. I love the RvR to death, it's a little slow, and not as action packed as WoW, and that's not necessarily a bad thing. I haven't lost a scenario yet, so it's a lot of fun for me. The downfall are the quests and some of the UI. I do like how when you accept a quest and you get the little tooltip at the right hand side, that if you mouse over it, it tells you what to do, and I also like if you go on your map it tells you where you need to be to complete the quest, as well as where to go to turn it in.

The damaging numbers are small, and the party health bars, for some reason aren't solid, I guess they go away when someone dies? Or is too far away? I don't really like that too much.

Long story short, it's a great game, and anyone who likes PvP or MMO's should pick this up. I probably will once the WOTLK hype dies down.
