Alright, I have Vista on my laptop and I want to turn automatic updates off. Should be simple, right? Well, I go to turn them off and find out that it's greyed out. I read Vista's explanation on why it may be greyed out and it told me that I'm either not the system administrator (I am) or I'm on a network that requires me to have automatic updates on. Considering I made my home network and I didn't do that, I thought it might have been my school network so I deleted that network from my laptop, checked to see if it's still greyed out and it is.

Is there another way to turn off automatic updates? The automatic updates are increasingly annoying, they've made me restart my PC on accident at least 3 times that I can remember.

Yeah. . . I've been tempted numerous times to reformat and install XP. If I couldn't turn off the ridiculous UAC thing, I'd have done so already... I feel for anyone not computer literate enough to know you can turn it off.
