updating problems

I Cannot seem to figure out this one. every time i try to start esf it says "this version is old and needs updating" or something to that extent. but when I try to update it it says:
"your connection to the internet is invalid.
please check your settings, and try agian."
What am i suppose to do. if you know please be in detail because i'm as dumb as a rock.

Give it a little more time. I'm not sure exactly what your problem is, but the odds are that someone else will. Just give it a little more time and I'm sure someone will answer your question.

have you got the latest version of the hl patch??? version 1.1.1.0 ( i think) and you have the beta 1.0 of esf???

LaMM is correct, that is what will cause that error . . . You need to run HL 1.1.1.0 and ESF Beta 1.0.
