ESF :: Update #5 - WIP Babidi, Character Selection Screen with Custom Classes, Status Update
<p>For our fifth update, we will be showing you guys the WIP Babidi map and the new Character Selection screen with Custom Classes. A Status Update will be discussed.<br /><br /><b>WIP Babidi Map</b><br />This week, Grega has been working on a new map. ESF_Babidi. So far this is a heavy WIP, with a couple of bugs, but it still looks amazing. Here are a few screenshots for you guys! </p>

<p>These images have been added to the Mapping Gallery, as well.<br /><br /><b>Character Selection Screen / Custom Models</b><br />Earlier this week, John_Volkon made a video showing the new Character Selection screen with Custom Models. With the new XML tool, you are able to add Classes, which John_Volkov did. Great map, even if it is still wip. What exactly do u guys mean with smooth eye laser movement?? Does it mean Picollos laser beam now locks better... ?

basically before piccolo's eye lasers would shoot in fast burst in 1 direction at a time, now they move like lasers should, constantly changing the direction as you look. if that makes sense :p?

The idea was to have a more real like laser. Basically when you move your aim the laser doesnt jump round anymore , but moves smoothly.



Now some info on the map that Dam seems to have missed.

Its not my map. Heck i cant even come close to making such good textures.

The map was started by Cold Steel, its just that he left the team with his maps not finished. My job is to finish what he started.

Just so noone says i steal fame ^^

yes, thats very nice, now the laser is continuous in his movement. Stamina is now used to help on PS and Blocking i hope it brings nice gameplay.

The map is looking awesome, I hope the mapper can make those unreachable map spots, even knowing you cant reach them it makes a map much better looking.

That well see. As said im only finishing stuff that Cold Steel Started. And all the stuff i have was started before the 3D skyboxes were put into action.

I do have something special planned for the map though ^^

Er, I don't think goldsrc can do 3d skyboxes, can it? At least not in the sense of source or other modern engines. I suppose you could make terrain outside an invisible wall so you couldn't reach it though.

Yeah, that should be fixed soon (hopefully)

@Karrde: I guess that's what he was talking about. I call it 3d skybox.

Oh yea?

There is a bit of a trick to it. But check namek_end, budokai or timechamber.

Those are all 3D skyboxes going far beyond the limits of hammers mapping ability ^^

Yea, nice video of course!:cool: I excepted something like that when I did first read about the XML stuff. Now I ask myself if everbody can create an own class, choose attacks for the char from all the original chars, set speed, powerlevel and so on - not just the models. Cause if that is possible u know what will happen :D

In any case keep up the good work, it really feels like 1.3 will be out in one years time:smile:

p.s.: did anyone notice that its kinda paradox to have an open beta for the 1.3 beta (that is, if the 1.3 is still considered beta, like 1.0, 1.1 or 1.2)?

Yes, you will be able to create your custom class with moves that have already been coded in.

For example, you'd be able to add a class with Goten, Trunks, and Gotenks. Goten & Trunks would be buddies, and for a transformation, you'd be able to transform into Gotenks. (At least I think you'd be able to do that.)

Roger that. That "something special" does it have something to do with the floors of the ship changing environment? That would rock to much...

Yes there are 2 maps already with this kind of feature.

I think I remember someone saying that making only the head to be shown in the hud was already their first plan, not sure.
