Noticed that I've been disconnecting a lot. I want to play my damn game but it just keeps on disconnecting me off the internet. People in my AIM list are saying I keep signing off even though I'm on.

I cleaned out every computer in my network, spyware and adware free and now I'm guessing that if theres a virus interfering with the router, should I reformat? We don't know where it's coming from. All we know it isn't the Router (We had to buy another Linksys, then we had to buy another one because it was a piece of **** and would take $20 to ship it back, so we bought NetGear which was only $30 since it was refurbished)

We borrowed other ones from neighbors, the spares they have and its one of our computers. I'm saying that should I reformat the computers that are in the network other then spend hours finding out which computer has that virus or w/e it's doing? I spent whole day today cleaning out every computer, defragging, spybot... you name it. ;/

EDIT: I also did a system restore but still keeps doing it and yes all cables are plugged in correctly.

It might be the NetGear router. Some time ago, I tried going from a Linksys router to a NetGear router, but the NetGear router would constantly disconnect, so I went back to the Linksys and the problem disappeared. So, you can try going back to the Linksys router and see if the problem disappears. If it does turn out to be the NetGear router, then you should contact NetGear and see if they have any solutions.

if your routers firmware (the software the makes the router work) is not up to date it will disconnect you like mad. visit netgears site to find your router and how to upgrade its firmware.

It's already updated but I guess I didn't include that. It's been doing this for like a week now, and it wasn't doing it when I got it like two weeks ago.

are you 100% sure its your router and not your ISP?

You could also try power cycling your router a few times to see if that fixed it.
