transparent texture, [edit] and chrome effect

Maybe you'll be irritated cause i've got another quastion.
and i can't find the answer.

I've got a photoshop7.0 and 8bit texture,
how i must do, to mark some color transparent?
I have to do something with indexed colors, and
I know that in .qc file, must be something like that:
$texrendermode "mytexture.bmp" "masked"
If you know, please help me.
(i'm working on milk shape)

If you set it to masked the last colour in the palette is "displayed" transparent.

i dont know if this works, but just have whatever you want chrome on a seperate skinmap, then after compiling your model, open the model up in HLMV and click on textures tab, next you click the thing on the side and pick the texture you want to be chrome and click chrome on the side, if you use jed's HLMV there are also options to make it semi transparent, hope that works
