As you know, esf 1.3 might be in a big size, so i suggest to make download in parts.

Example:

esf1.3 install part1.
esf1.3 install part2.

and so on.

Thats the way how to download it faster.

Err how would that be faster. O.O

The all in all size is the same if its in parts of if its full.

I doubt this mod would be that big. I think with all the new stuff, it would be less then 300MB. Which is not really a large size ^_^

Agreed. But look at it this way.

Lets asume its 300 Mb and there are 5 parts each big 60 Mb.

Now instead of downloading 1 file in (lets just say) 30 min youll be downloading 1 file evry 5 min. And you have 6 files. So 5*6 = 30 minutes and you are back on the starting position. And if you try to download all the files at once the download speed would decrease.

Basicly this has no use.

Well, it would help 56kers. They could DL a part a day without taking obscene amounts of time, and if a DL fails they arn't entirely screwed.

But there are other issues which would probably need to be addressed for this version before even considering how to release the installer.

Every time a mod tries to do this I seem to get corrupt parts of it..

I imagine the partial installers would be a pain to get working correctly.

and for peoples with restricted net times or slow connections ... download managers with pause/resume functions are a good choice in this case.

Or we can just use a dl manger & continue the process of the dl depending on factors of disconnection and reconnection.

How about we get:

Updato version = Smaller file size, and if you already have 1.2.3 installed.
Maximo version = bigger file size, and if you do not have ESF installed.

I didn't say I was for this idea. I'm just stating what pro's it might have. Look at both sides of an issue.

The only thing that would annoy about this idea is the fact that you can't download two things at once, and you would have to wait for one, and get the other one after. Plus, there is also the fact that everytime you wanted to re-install ESF 1.3, you would have to do two parts to re-installing the game.

And how about thisone. You download all parts just to find out that 1 is corupt. Now you have to redownload all parts cause you dont know wich one is corupt.

Ah, you just made an excellent point Grega, now this idea should definately not be used for downloading 1.3.
