Lets face it- the clan scene in this game is falling, and fast.

Perhaps a way to fix it is an actual place to advertise new and growing clans. Clans supported by the community tend to last much longer, and there is no better place to start than the ESF forum.

A larger influx of deticated players results in more people playing the game. This small addition to the forums might be able to help dramatically.

I was going to bring something similar up in the next meeting. Glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks so.

Yea, I agree also, because it was difficult for me to find a place to advertise my clan. This way the community will be more aware.

I don't think it matters, not enough people play.

make an irc channel, and call it #esfscrim or something. Best way for players to organize a match. When players want to duel, you advertise in the channel like, "1v1 | esf_mapname | east (US) | your server | pm me". Its how cs, cod, and dod players do it.

never heard of it, but dont see why it would die. It works really well when players want to find a match. IRC is alot easier then trying to do something like that on forums.

Two thumbs up. Im looking for a way to get people to join my clan aswell and living on the second biggest continent where only 4 people play online that I know of, makes it hard.

A little section to just say: "Hi, anyone in "enter region/country here*. There is a new clan around, check it out at *enter url here*" would be pretty cool.

Obviously the mods would have to screen each clan site to make sure there is no porn on it and stuff.

I'm going to agree with FP's statement. There really aren't that many players and most of the people who play complain 90% of the time anyway. If clans had a hard time staying together when people actually cared, I can only imagine how long a new clan would be able to stay together now (and thats giving the benefit of the doubt that people would join the clan in the first place).

I guess a new section couldn't hurt though. I don't think the clan scene is what needs to be improved. ESF just needs to attract people who are willing to stick with the game and learn the ropes. 1.2's goal was to attract noobs, and it succeeded. It just isn't able to keep them playing.

Yes, you're so right. I mean if you take away the fact that 1. not many people play. 2. Noobs don't stick around. 3. Not everyone has IRC 4. The community isn't big enough. This isn't CS, this sin't DoD, this is ESF. ESF has what? 100 players TOPS. That's giving them benefits. CS has what? Couple thousand? Million maybe? Yeah. Big difference.

irc is free, and easy to dl. It would be impossible for people to set up matches or have clan channels without it. With forums you have to set up a day and specific time to meet up, but with irc you can just advertise in the channel when your ready to play. Eventually word will get around that players can find esf duels if they visit the channel.

CS isnt DoD, DoD isnt CoD, CoD isn't CS, and yet they all use the same format because it works. If esf became a competitive game then it would most likely follow the same route. 1.3 might do just that. If you want esf to get a good competitive base (besides gameplay issues) then its a really good way to do it.

Or since the player base is so small have continent clans. Separating the already small number of players into clans makes each clan have fewer people. Just force all US people to be in a mock clan with all US people, all European people in a mock clan with Europeans, etc. And the continents with little to no players just join the less populated continent.
While I don't think my idea would work it splits the few ESF players into groups of more than 5

That chanal existed a fiew months back. About the time ESF league was comming to a crash. Needless to say that chanal died in a couple of weaks. There were only 4 people who joined there regularly. Me, Saru, the maker, and there was someone else but i cant remember who D:

In any case #esfscrim died long ago and failed miserably.

Besides not even all forum members who play have IRC how do you people expect to get people who arnt even on this forum to join an IRC chanal for ESF >.<

There is abopu 40 people on irc out of the 16000 this forum has. So that is a bad choice to start from.

pubs =p. I played esf for a while before even thinking of coming to the forum. Maybe others just play and not visit here as much. 1.3 might bring back alot of the old school players and hopefully new ones too.

Fire, i'm afraid you are wrong. I've enabled a plugin on the HL2Files game server that saves STEAMID's and the username. in less then 24 hours, it recorded over 220 people. And that just in 1 server.

Whoah, great skyrider, nice calculations, that said alot, but same as grim, we're only 4 people that play esf, we've seen a few others in Africa that play, but they don't really care what we say, I don't know why, we just don't find them anymore, oh and I'd actually prefer A forum section for clans, or anything related to that, so how about it, anyone?

Sounds like a good idea. Though, it probaly would need uber moderating. 1) to maybe check sites for pr0n and ****, tho that could be solved wit a disclaimer from esforces(isn´t there actualy something like that?) 2) Lets face it, most ppl playin ESF aren´t realy mature, so the flamin like "OMFG tis clan suckz0rz, i can beat it all alone" might happen, which would spread the flame all over those clan forums.

Generally a good idea tho.

Well the mods are doing a pretty good job keeping flaming down and all, so I dont see how hard it would be to do the same in one more forum section.

They could appoint a mod or two for that specific forum if they really see the need for it. I wouldnt mind being one of those mods

Whoa ho ho! 220 wow. Really? Compared to the ~6,000 servers in CS:S with a **** load more people. 220 is nothing.

And you people seem to think i said "OMG ESF IS DOD! LAWL"

Ye...no. I am comparing the number of PEOPLE that play the games. Not the games themselves.

220 people eh? Yep that's 220 noobs who quit. Nice one.

ESF gets a lot of people to download the game, theres no question. It's just that 99 percent of those people uninstall the game after the first ten minutes.

Truth be told, I don't think it's needed because I feel it would fail miserably. While it is a nice idea, you have to figure that most ESF clans don't even use their own clan forum, why would they come to this one?
