Anyway, looks like this game might give EVE Online a run for it's money.

I really started to lose faith in the game when it completely shifted gears (I guess that's to be expected when you pass a project to a different developer).

I, personally, liked the idea of being able to specialize in a given field on your assigned ship (Engineering, Science/Medical, Security, and Command), as well as away missions being based on an FPS-style combat system, saving the more traditional turn-based MMO elements for ship-to-ship combat.

Now, the going notion is "everybody's a Captain! Yay!", which means it'll likely be like any other MMO, but with ships being the basic unit instead of your typical character with selected race, class, and/or professions. Granted, it's still fairly early in its development, but I don't have nearly the same amount of optimism for this game that I did when it was being handled by the previous developers.

Anyway, looks like this game might give EVE Online a run for it's money.

The only reason for that is because it's a Star Trek game. EVE has a pretty big following, I'd love to see them switch over to this and put the real Trekkies to shame.
