Hello,

I'm running a public ESF server on Linux which is quite popular (ip: 217.170.2.110:27025). I watched the game and noticed a few things:

1) Clients time out really often. Happens to all of them. It looks like a crash on the client side.

2) The server crashes on regular basis too. Here's a small snippet from the log when this happens:

L 06/03/2003 - 18:32:04: "PeLoTaZoS<31><3072071><31>" killed "CHEGUEVARA<49><3211166><49>" with "kamehameha"
L 06/03/2003 - 18:32:05: FATAL ERROR (shutting down): Bad entity in IndexOfEdict()
FATAL ERROR (shutting down): Bad entity in IndexOfEdict()
./hlds_run: line 106: 9145 Segmentation fault $HL $*
Add "-debug" to the ./hlds_run command line to generate a debug.log to help with solving this problem
Tue Jun 3 18:32:15 CEST 2003: Server Died

Any ideas what it can be or what I can do to prevent it? Latest version (esfb111.tar.gz).

I've seen it too on ours.

The devs read these forums and we need to remember this is a BETA release still.

thanks for the feedback though.

Most of the time it is caused by people spamming the disc attack...

Try:
sv_timeout 100000

Changing timeout wouldn't help, I understood the client crashes as, so the connection times out.

The mod seems really popular. My servers is played on day and night. Too bad it crashes so often. Hope it gets fixed soon. Of course, I know it's beta, but this should be a priority fix :)

Would you like telling when it happens or what people are doing? And also are you behind a router.

If you're running redhat you might encounter segmentation fault errors, happens with NS too. Revert to 3.1.1.0 if you have 3.1.1.1

Ok I just had the same problem...

FATAL ERROR (shutting down): Bad entity in IndexOfEdict()

It's a stock copy of ESF.. no addons or anything, running on a redhat 7.2
