sound editors?

ok, my problem is that i have a song (metallica's ONE) that starts with gunfires and explotions... but just when the musc starts, that war noise is still in one channel. i have ripped the clean channel (music only) but i need a program that deletes the same sound to the other channel so i can take the war noise only:

my mp3 goes like this:
R ____.....00000
L ____.....88888

and using the left channel to delete theright one should give me a mono channel like this:

M ____............

off topic- is there any site where i can download the samples of the voice from the songs? or how can I extract the music from a song and leave the voice?
