Oké, question.
What's with these random threads? what are you looking for? Are you looking for a discussion on the matter? Or are you just sharing news?
If you're looking for a discussion, how about posting a little more then an article. Maybe your own point of view or something. If it's news.. why? People interested in it will read stuff like this themselves.

Yup. Prozac is right. You should at least write your own opinion.
As for the dragonfly thing... it sounds interesting but as they say on the forums: Pics or it didn't happen. :)

Jesus Christ, that article is satire. They don't consume human flesh. They're just big dragonflies. Please at least try to understand what you read.

Dr. John VandenBrooks said:
Our main interest is in how paleo-oxygen levels would have influenced the evolution of insects
Here's the same story from a more reputable source. There's absolutely nothing about them being maneaters or anything ridiculous like that in VandenBrooks' statement. http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2010/10/101029132924.htm

I despise these threads. I consider them borderline spam, and they look like they are aimed at getting a higher post count rather than contributing to anything.

On topic:

Even if those dragonflies were flesh eating (as in, eating humans), they would be harmless to us. I guess none of you caught the "oxygen difference" thing mentioned. Without an atmosphere with roughly 31% oxygen, they would succumb to hypoxia. Regardless, it is a cool experiment (if real). I wonder exactly what they will learn from this, beyond that insect size depends on oxygen levels in the atmosphere.

Usually when someone says that they don't contribute to the thread...

Yup.
This is from Spunky's link:
As juveniles they need to hunt live prey and in fact undergraduate students Elyse Muñoz and Michael Weed working with Dr. VandenBrooks had to resort to hand feeding the dragonflies daily.

Yet somehow I did, and you contributed absolutely nothing in criticizing me! It almost seems as if your post was entirely defensive of the topic starter, rather than useful. What a strange turn of events.

On topic:

The article Spunky provided is far more interesting than the first one provided. For instance, this one mentions the efficiency of the ****roach. Basically it just economizes its own breathing development. Since there is more oxygen, it doesn't need as large tracheal tubes, and spends its resources elsewhere. Scary little critters. I guess since the dragonfly is a predator rather than an omnivore, it focuses on size so that it can kill and eat bigger prey?

I have no idea. Skyrider's tinkered so much with the forum at this point that it might grow to 70 cm in wingspan and try to eat us.

Why are you saying it's boring? I mean, there are PLENTY of deadly things around on present-day Earth. I dare you to pick a fight with a nest of camel spiders. Not because they're dangerous, but because of how terrifying they are.

In all fairness, if Mkilbride didn't post as many threads as he did, the forum would have a lot less activity, I think it's great to check once a day and see a whole bunch of random threads with stuff to discuss rather than nothing. I say keep it up dude!

On Topic: Article seems somewhat satirical, in fact, a great deal of the articles on that site seem to be humour-based.

Maybe if you wrote idiomatic English, I would.
