Source: http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/64091The Creative Assembly is returning to feudal Japan with a sequel to Shogun: Total War, publisher Sega has announced, which is curiously named Shogun 2: Total War.
Set in the middle of the 16th century, the strategy sequel will see players using "military engagements, economics and diplomacy" to reunite Japan's warring clans under their rule to become the new Shogun.
"Improved land and naval battle gameplay" are promised for Shogun 2 as well as character progession with experience and levelling up, plus revamped AI apparently "developed according to Sun Tzu's principles in the Art of War." Co-op, competitive and team-based multiplayer modes will be on offer in addition to the singleplayer campaign.
Shogun 2: Total War is scheduled for release on PC some time in 2011. The Creative Assembly is also working on an expansion for Napoleon: Total War, due this summer.
