Runes of Magic looks really good for a free online game. I'm downloading it as I post this here. Basically there's 6 classes: a Warrior, Scout, Rogue, Priest, Mage, and Knight. From what I'm reading, I guess if you join a guild you can fight for land, which sounds pretty sick. Check out the site for more info.

Like all other MMORPG games? There are tons of them. You can't say WoW is original you know.

I swear you'll see the similarities if you try this game. Trust me.

OT: This snow in the theme is so annoying...

Yea, I just played the game. Looks quite nice, and it looks WoWish, but I truly don't care. It's free!

If it's annoying, why don't you disable it?

i think skys point wasn't that the game ripped off wow, it was that wow itself isn't original.

Now with Kung-Fu action!

They've all got the same purpose and design criteria really.

A friend of mine brags that WoW is based off D&D and says he's !cool" because he plays it. We normally laugh at that point.

WoW is very loosely based of D&D, though the "rulesets" are somewhat similar, and the races have almost identical traits (being that diablo was a direct competitor to baldurs gate, it's not surprising).

do the "OVER 600 EPIC QUESTS" involve things like "kill 500 of these monsters" or "get me this by killing these monsters" cuz if so..im kinda done with that bs in mmo's..

What exactly do you want in a quest? when it comes down to it thats all there is to do in quests. The only thing i can think of thats different is maybe escorts or defending or assaulting a place, then again its just like having to kill monsters and getting something to drop anyway.

You know what, After asking me what I'd rather have. I asked a friend of mine who is also tired of the same killing/collect quest and we came up with way better stuff that could be in a game than the stuff thats in games now.

I swear people will get bored to this one as well.

The biggest problem of MMORPGs is the lack of content for end levels, thus shaping them all to "quest / korea grind " game.
Even if there actually are raids and PvP instances ; they usually fail because of the playerbase. Not many do play these, so it's hard to find an appropriate PvP / PvE guild to raid or do premades.
Also, one thing to note in addition to these other things is balance.
Most of these games are based on doing OVER 9000 melee attacks , and all sorts of stupid combos to kill their foes in time ( spinning in air, doing fast attacks to look cool ; you know ? ), and require you to stay still. Almost all of the free MMORPGs I've played require melee classes to stay still in order to dps. This gives a huge advantage to all ranged and healers, because you can kite endlessly. Let's not even talk about snares and escape abilities, or such.

Oh yeah, and the animations are also terrible.
Almost every one of them appear to look the same, but just with different classes , etc.

Sadly, this one doesn't seem to differ from what I said before about ( insert name here ) Online except for the graphics part.
Sure, you can make a game look good in the trailer, but you never know how it really is.

I've played this game for a couple of days now, and the fighting system is the same as WoW you can jump around your target and do any of your skills you desire, you can run and swing, run and fire shots, only thing that you have to stand still for is to 'cast' spells and abilitys that are not instant. So the PvP in this game isnt that basic.

as for the rest you said. some does apply, just not as hardcore as clicker mmo's

Not to turn this into a WoW thread, or to troll Odin, because that's what I am; A troll.

But I think Wrath of the Lich king has done a decent job turning some quests away from "Kill 5 million of these to get 5 items and bring them to me". Sure there is a lot of grinding still, obviously, it's an mmo, but there are some interesting quests that don't involve grinding. Although the most fun ones are few and far between, and not enough to get someone who hates grinding back into it, it's still much nicer than the previous 2 expansions.

Anyone else notice that one of the boss creatures looks exactly like one of the colossus's from Shadow of the Colossus?
