Reversed HyperThreading, could it be true?

Introduction

Nearing the launch of the Intel Core 2 Duo, also known as Conroe, AMD seems to have a secret weapon.

Although by some hard and software experts called bogus, Reversed HyperThreading seem the most logical advancement for this time.
Now that most programs are still single threaded, like for instance games, it's because a more and more appealing idea.

What is Reversed HyperThreading?

To make a long story very short and simple; it makes multiple cores work as 1. The advantages are clear and with the new 4x4 platform of AMD, it seems a very wise step.(2x3800 would be with RHT 4x Athlon 64 3200 combined in 1 caluclation madness. Maybe effectively making it a Athlon 64 8Ghz?)

Now most dual cores have only 1 core doing all the calculations, while the other one sits back and relaxes. With this Reversed HyperThreading, multiple cores with be able to handle a single thread at the same time.
And if the applications IS multithreaded, it will leave Reversed HyperThreading off.

There is just one downside, it only works with AM2 Dual Cores.

Could it be true?

As I stated earlier, many people, including experts, say it's bogus. But is it?

A just new program was released by AMD, the AMD Dual Core Optimizer is giving the rumor more and more credibility.

Final Word

Possibilities could be endless. With rumors saying AMD will buyout ATi, it could even give a significant performance boost to ATi's crossfire. Just think of a near 100% performance increase of your added videocard.

These times are good times for computer technology.

Intended for all owners of dual-core processors, AMD Dual-Core Optimizer is a piece of software that allegedly improves gaming performance by bypassing Windows' API in some specific situations.

I have installed the AMD 64/X2 driver myself, I found it elimintated lag issues. However, one game, UT, lagged like hell unless I assigned it affinity to only one core. Now with this installed, LAG BE GONE FOREVERS!

Well done AMD!

Edit: You need to install the Athlon 64/X2 driver before installing this. That can be found: http://www.amd.com/us-en/assets/con...amdcpusetup.exe
It seems people have been installnig it on their 939 systems aswell.
ok i just installed it on my OC 3800 x2 and it works well so far

the only game i ever had a problem with afinity or not was the original UT, it staggered and ***ed around but after this its smooth as a ...well lapped heatsink

now has anyone tested it fully prime etc etc
and what were you doign with the bsod's? just windows or anything in particular and did you install the driver and the ms fix first?
no idea i these are need for this though
Gathering from that I guess you could say this also works great on 939 systems.
You must have SP2 + MS Dual Core Patch installed. Then the AMD64/X2 Driver then the new AMD Dual Core Optimiser
Just make sure you have the above installed on your system before installing it.

I don't see why they shouldn't. It doesn't say anything specific to AM2.

I assume different people were confused hearing that an update was going to be released for AM2 chips eventually that enable reverse hyper threading, and people thought that this was it.
EDIT:
The Inquirer said:
APOLOGIES to the fanbois, but I am about to kill some nice AMD dreams. Reverse Hyperthreading does not exist. It's one of the bigger loads of bluff and bluster cooked up in a long time.

AMD doesn't have any such technology. It would like to have it but even the upcoming K8L quad core won't be able to present a dual or quad core as a single core to the Operating system.

On the other hand AMD doesn’t not need such a marchitecture as the operating systems are getting used to a dual and later quad machines. It's just a dream that someone set afloat but AMD doesn't have such a marchitecture.

However, AMD should weather the Conroe storm but it is about to lose the performance crown for a whole quarter at least. Its response, K8L won't be ready before Q2 2007. ?

* Apologies, too, for calling HyperThreading HyperTransport earlier. Must've been HyperVentilating.

I Wonder if that is true or not?.
