Wow this game looks extremely cool and sounds cool too here's some info plus some screenshots:

GAMEPLAY SPOILERS

1. The game can be played in first person or one of two new views. They are basically slight variations on a close third person camera.
2. It must be viewed in widescreen. If your tv doesn't support the 16:9 aspect ratio, the game will feature black bars on top and bottom of the screen to make sure you experience the game to its fullest on a 4:3 monitor. HDTV users, the game supports 480 progressive scan. This is needed because,...
3. In 3rd person, Leon fills the far left side of the screen. It feels like you are playing a first person shooter even withour Leon on the screen.
4. Controls are them same as before. However, health and ammo will now be onscreen.
5. Even with the old controls, the new views make it feel like an entirely different game.

STORY SPOILERS!!!!!

1. RE4 takes place in 2004, 6 years after RE2.
2. Umbrella is gone and with them,...the zombies.
3. Leon is hired by the president to guard his daughter. Before he can take the job, she is kidnapped and taken to a village in south america where all the villagers hunt him down in some kind of an eerie trance.
4. The worlds are completely wide open.
5. No more door animations or pre-rendered cutscenes. Everything is done in-engine.
6. Areas feature a few very brief loadtimes.
7. Enemies will react to damage done to them in places. Shooting an enemie in the foot will make them hobble.
8. Villagers are armed with sickles, axes, pitchforks, and many more sharp objects.Which they can throw at you. These are not mindless zombies.
9. You can shoot the thrown objects out of the air. If you time it right.
10. There is an action button. For instance, you can shoot an enemy and then quickly close the gap and kick them in the chest. Also to move objects in front of doors to keep villagers from you. Also to puch a ladder full of enemies off from you and more.
11. In a later level, you are in complete darkness and unable to see anything until the moonlight illuminates the villagers.
12. The villagers are smart. In later levels they get smarter. For instance, if you shoot at one, it won't continue to go towards you. It may run away and if you follow him, it could purposefully lead you to an area where 6 more await with bow guns. They are more human.

:shocked: Damn... and i tought this game was like anyother Resident Evil game... like same ol' stuff, man but this new game sounds amazing, First person perspective? :shocked: .. thats it im going to buy an GameCube now..

no more zombies?, how can they even call it resident evil, bleh, i suppose id buy it anyways though, ive been in lov with the capcom survival horror games since resident evil 1, and the spinoff clone dino crisis,

I don't get how you can have RE without the zombies. There's gotta be zombies in there somewhere. I mean seriously... just run around killing natives? The hell?

Oh my, the graphics are sweet, but the gore is sweeter. There's not just crazy natives either, there's a few "monsters". But it wouldn't hurt to throw in a superzombie, like on RE for gamecube, here and there. And aaahhh, i'm seeing more chainsaw weilding mad men in games

Im a HUGE RE fan since well when RE1 came out ( also the day i bought my playstation 1 ) i played out all RE games and some Dino Crisis ones and i might add something RE4 HAS zombies ... why i saw a video of it and it was Leon shooting Zombies in somekind of house if you want proof check out the videos here http://www.residentevilfan.com/multimedia.asp dunno if im allowed to post it though if not mods can remove the link so thats settles it RE 4 has zombies ... common a RE game with zombies isnt even Resident Evil ^^ gonna get RE4 the sec it comes out

does anyone remember Brad Vikers from RE1 appearing in RE2 as a super zombie. im a huge RE fan but its a descrase to make a RE with no zombies. i have been playing RE since i wasw 7 years old and i have yet to see a RE gave that does not a have a zombie, they better have some zombies in this one or im gonna go crazy....they just have to have some...come on..... well anyway im just glad they didnt forget about Leon Kennady even though Chris Redfield is my favorite RE character. He better be in this one, could you imagine Chris Redfield and Leon on a team.....damn that would be sweet.

Isn't RE without zombies just a generic first person shooter with some prestige from popular characters? If they are leaving the zombies behind they may as well leave the franchise.

i dont think they need any zombies at all.i think this game will be cool regardless,besides after nemsis on resdient evil 3,i cried when i played that game and stop playing reasident evil for good my heart just couldnt take it im walking through a door and the music pops on and nemesis is running towards you it made me jump to many damn times,either way i hope it dosent have zombies its something new but that just my oppion ^_^

Ohhh better just stay outta things you don't know a lot about Sonic!

1.) RE is not an FPS although they made a few RE games known as "Gun Survivor" or something which I believe came out in Japan but had little to no success here (if they even got here.) However RE1, RE2, RE3, REmake, Code:Veronica, etc. are all third person!

2.) RE also isn't really a "shooter" per se, as it is more about puzzles/exploration. The fighting isn't as much of a reflex test as you'd find in Halo or Half-life, or as you'd find in "One" or... well I can't think of another third-person shooter right now.

But yeah, the game is still "survival horror" (although it's really B-rated horror") which makes me think if they took out the monsters that'd just be weird...

Heh, if you want a game that will *really* scare you (not cheap dog-through-the-window thrills), try Silent Hill 1-3 or Fatal Frame 1 and 2.

You guys are blind man RE4 has zombie . without zombies its not RE , and further more RE isnt a fps nor a basic shooter it has its own gaming section Survival Horror . that guys seriously needs to check his Info cuz its all wrong RE has zombies for proof klik here scroll down and watch the RE4 videos it clearly shows Zombies , and further more Big Ferms like Umbrella don't just roll over and die , and it isnt Umbrella that made the virus they just funded it . Dr.Marcus and William Burkin ( rest of staff ) made the virus , and further more Leon is infected with the virus in RE4 if the virus is still there the zombies are aswell ^^

Just read the whole thing it seems RE won't have Zombies afterall ( or so it says i don't believe it though ) lets hope it aint true

Yeah RE4 deals with the Progenator virus it was the first virus invented it spawned the t and g virus. You can also look on gamespot.com.I think it will have soem sort of zombies and there is this mist lookign mosnter that follows him around in the ss's of it. From what i read he is in the umbrella corp

This also might be a rumor Hunk the 4th Survivor in RE2 might show up in the game

duh, it never said it DIDNT have ne zombies (umbrella zombies atleast), it just said there would be smarter villagers aswell...

there could very well still be another kind of zombie...

Information from my RE sourse they got it directly from Capcom

=Information=

- These villagers are infected with an entire new form of the virus ( Prolly advanced Progenator virus , mother if the T and G Virus). They are in the first process of turning into a zombie.

- Later on, you WILL find the real "dead" zombies.

- Also, you will find out that Umbrella is far away from being dead.

- The game is longer than any other previous RE title.

- Leon will meet Claire later in the game.

- a new trailer will be shown at Capcom's official page in the next weeks

So ill be posting a link to the new trailer soon ... r0x0rs RE4 will have Zombies and Umbrella is far from dead ... gonna buy the game for sure ^^

How long are they going to milk the virus concept? I swear, if I see RE5 that features the Z-Virus, I will hurt someone.

Why is it that people are just finding out about this game right now? There has
been an RE4 Teaser out as well for like 5-7 month now. Also to whoever said
that the Progenitor is "Mother" to the T and G Virus, I just gotta say that the
Progenitor is the T Virus, thats its previous name.

No its aint its the predesessor of the T-Virus the T-Virus spawned from it , and Capcom announched that at first the gameplay and story were similar to others RE games this is the path they followed untill 2 months ago and the original creator of all re games desided to make a change in the story and he did BIG time , but all will come clear in the newest video
