So I'm looking for a way to record the sound that is outputting through my speakers at a given time. The trick is, although I remember how to do this on XP, I've got no clue on how to manage it on vista. Thoughts?

I know how to record from your sound card. It gives you the exact(i think) quality you get from the speakers.

I can teach u if that what u need

Use Audacity. Before recording, select line/stereo/whatever-it's-called to record your output rather than input (mic etc).

I believe it is the same, since ur using a independent software and not a microsoftware (microsoftware, lol)

microsoft should make a comapny called microhard.

Anyhow, I guess u can use audacity.

Ok, I think I got it now. Looks like most modern laptops ship without the functionality to do this - IE realtek, sigmatel, etc intentionally do not program the functionality into their drivers to prevent music piracy. Utter bull****. So I'm going to need to get an external soundcard if I want to do this. God I hate the RIAA.
