As promised at QuakeCon 2005, the Quake 3 Arena engine source code has been released under the General Public License. Also included under the GPL are the q3map tools, which is good news for people who use the Q3 bsp format under other engines.
Development is centred at the Quake Standards Group website and forums, so head on over and get started!
