i have installed esf and cs w/steam
when i try to start a server when i choose frag limmit,free fighting or anything
the server is only using the deafult optons
i cant set free fight,it always starts in team deathmatch
can someone tell me what is the problem
does it something to do with the files that r set to "read only"
i'm i kind of computer noob,so if someone knows,please help me
thx

Delete (or rename) your game.cfg file in your esf folder if your using Steam.

why should i delete it? wouldn't that be bad for the game?

Nope, nothing bad would happen.
Steam handles settings different. If you leave the game.cfg first your settings will be changed like you wanted(gamemode to free fight for example) and then steam would read the game.cfg and would read the same settings from there, thus it will overwrite your settings(changing it back to team mode for example). Half-life with WON saves your settings to this file so it wouldn't matter but steam saves it to another file.

If you don't believe him, then just rename it. If the program doesn't run anymore, then just change it's name back.

Then steam wouldn't read the file anymore and it would be fixed ;). Steam doesn't crash if it misses the file(I removed it and I don't get any errors). Its just an optional file.

does this problem apear in other mods also or?
if it does,can i do the same thing to the other mods,deleting the .cfg file?

yep, but its a steam only thing.
