The only thing that was the same was how you moved and how you meleed. Beams had lock on and rubber band effects, there were 2 ways of swooping, models were overhauled, animations were overhauled, effects were updated, maps were updated with some having a 3D skybox. There were even skid marks on the floor when you were blocking a beam.

In the entire time there was a community project running (and still is), where the community members would make a character model, sounds for it and animations so the team would add him to the game. The model was finished, animations were half finished and then the project died. 3 times even.

As i said. The changes from 1.2 to the first open beta were more than the changes from 1.1 to 1.2
