Hi all,
fist. long time no see ;)
second. how much polys does a hl model needs because i think 217,257 is kinda much :S
thirth. and how much hl2??

hl1 hasnt really got a pmoylimit, but if you count that 1400 is already high for hl..

hl2 will support playermdoels around 12000 polies

that strikes me a bit odd considering you can top 12k in hl1, (though not reccomended) i doubt the poly limit in hl2 is lower than in its aging counterpart,

HL - Max 12,000 poly's. Max without lag 1800 poly's.

HL2 - Max Most likely 24,000 poly's. Max without lag 7500 poly's.

But ofcourse with HL2 your gonna need a few system upgrades before you can play it without blowing up your GFX card. :p

no i didnt make that model, but he is a member for a mod and i just needed the polies for hl and hl2.
.

hl2 can support 4000 poiles max as any higher is uncompilable by softimage

What you don't understand is they set a limit of poly's in SoftImage only. That's what you get when you wan't to make models early. HL2 supports atleast upto 7500 because Gordon and a couple other model's are at 7500 poly's. Once HL2 is closer to release there will be compilers that will support much higher poly-count's.

softimage runs fine with 10000+ models, its just that its the official compiler.
