:notice: Hello, I am French and new on this forum. I meet some concern with fabulous MOD ESF 1.2b My first Problem :

The black of the palm trees and another trees is not transparent. Why?
Does that make me the same thing on 2 PC Differente which has graphics board different. OS different ect... (the files of ESF are identical on the other hand)

My other Problem is that if I launch the MOD by the shorcut I do not have access to the MAP of ESF but to that of HalfLife, Why ?

I do not wish to install the "STEAM" because I play quaziment only in local area network. I have for HalfLife the patch 1.1.1.0 of installed.

Thank you very much with those which will be able to help me and all others evidament ^^ especially with the conceptor of this formidable MOD:)

Tree problem is to do with ESF in WON, shouldnt do it in Steam, but cant be made transparent in WON (As far as I know anyway).

Code:
C:\Sierra\Half-Life\hl.exe -console -game esf
^ Use that shortcut for ESF.

i try later the Stream ...
No solution for Won user ? for a transparency ?

For the Shorcut i have always no ESF MAP :(
it works if i lunch the MOD in Half Life ( activation mod ) :(

lovemakerz i have these problems too... anyway i'm playing esf with hlmaps... trees isn't transperment...

how to fix the shortcut witch really work... all esf maps??? (without hl maps)???

1. Make a shortcut for the file 'hl.exe' which can be found at Half-Life's
Folder/Directory

2. Right Click with the mouse button on the shortcut

3. Get to Properties

4. Get to the 'Target: ' label

5. Get to the end of the line where you can find the word 'hl.exe'

6. Make a space and type inside it the next text: -console -game esf

7. Change the icon of the shortcut. you can find it in ESF folder inside Half-Life's Folder

8. Change the Name of the shortcut as you wish

I have exactly make you Step.. but i never ESF Maps :(
is not really important ...
my big Probleme is a transparency of Palm trees ... :(

Trees transparency is only on Steam, it CAN be done on WON, but that would require ESF mappers to do it.

yes, i do it... but there is till hl maps... i put esf maps only that way:
i started hl
then i went to custom game
selected and activated esf
then lan games >create game
there is all esf maps without HL... but why isn't working with shortcut???

Anyway my hl.exe is in c:/sierra/counter-strike/hl.exe
so
i use this shortcut: c:/sierra/counter-strike/hl.exe -console - game esf

p.s. if i create the Counter-Strike shortcut... and then i started it... there are hl maps too...

You have CS -_- so it will be

Well to my knowledge you must open HL then activate ESF 1.2, if not you will always get HL maps (i tried everything) and yes the tree thing is also getting on my nerves.. but i can stand it for now... after all, the ESF team has out done all others, and i give them my greatest of thanks. :)

wrong.
i had 3 dll's that you need to put them in your HL dir and then the trees are transparent.
but i lost those dll's when i reformated and i dont know where to get them from :/
so basicly transparent trees CAN work on won in no problem at all

OK one stupid solution is to put in the valve folder under hl's the esf maps
THE solution (with capital C }8-P ) for the map problems for WON users usually(worx for me)
is to put in the "start in" area in the shortcut properties the name of the addr of hl folder dir thingy

in dos style
exactly like this:
Start in: C:\SIERRA\HALFLI~1\

untill I did it the stupid hl prog could recog my map folder after putting it that way it vorked!
oh and this is what I use as my shortcut...(make it run a lil better I think...)

oh about the trees... one way I think of is making that leeves area a spirite... I know their black sure is transperant
but that would require coding and remodeling+some friggen easy spiriting which is not possible

WRONG!!! this has nothing to do with maps
those trees... they are in the esf\models folder!!!
in the maps they jsut do a function called trees I guess
which present trees different for each mod I suppose

I said its possible, thats enough.

I was referring to the entity for Transparency.
