Long rumored, Codemasters finally confirmed development of Operation Flashpoint 2 for a 2008 release on both PC and "leading console platforms." While Flashpoint 2 will not be developed by original Flashpoint developer Bohemia Studio (instead, it appears to being worked on by an in-house team at Codemasters), it has already been declared "Codemasters Studio's most extensive R&D project to date." Two years of pre-production have gone into Flashpoint 2 so far, and it will use a variant of Codemasters' own Neon engine (currently seen in Colin McRae DiRT).
