I recently got my dad's Dell Inspion 5150 as USB N wireless adapter. While it is faster than before, it is not as fast as 3 other wireless connections. We all use a router, and while the other 3 are much newer than his Dell, I was curious to whether it was possible to fix this? I did SpeedTest.net's tests and he gets around 7-11 mbps while the others get 14-16 mbps.

tl:dr - If the 3 wireless adapters are not identical check what's the maximum bandwidth of the USB adapter you bought (Manual/box). If they are identical, rignore this post.

Wireless cards/Usb thingies most often have lower bandwidths than direct ethernet.
Among wireless cards bandwidth can also vary greatly e.g. an expensive PCI wireless card will achieve a higher throughput than a cheap Usb adapter.
I'd say the other two wireless cards are just better.
