I've known how to normal map for quite sometime, but untill recently my results varied way to much for me to rely on it. Thus, for the past few days I've been studying normal mapping and doing several demo runs of it.

Here is my latest, the anatomy isn't right and i'm not going to pretend it is, but both the low res mesh and the high res mesh were built in about half an hours time.

the model to the left weighs in at 200k, but the model to the right with the normal map applied is only 675 triangles.

This is still a work in progress.

I built a base mesh in max, exported it to zbrush made a high rez mesh exported teh high rez and a low rez back to max then rendered teh normal maps using the render to texture.
